Poem Pavilion: Abs-tr-usion of Pattern



Es Devlin’s “Poem Pavilion” inspired this combination of abstraction and extrusion of light and form, aptly named “Abs-tr-usion of Pattern.” I started by tracing the values, or strokes, along the pattern and transforming the tracings into extrusions. The outcome is a physical model of a sphere built from a stacked assembly of rectangular wooden sticks.
