Beehive Modular Design

To promote collective well-being, urban areas need to create opportunities for residents to inhabit greenspace. Looking back at my childhood in Seoul, where greenspace covers just 3.7% of city grounds, I felt compelled to create designs that made the city greener, affordable, and noninvasive. I designed an interactive ecosystem that helps incorporate plants and green spaces with public facilities and residential buildings easily through a modular design that can be adjusted based on the needs of the area.

I borrowed inspiration from nature—beehives—to create a hexagonal modular design. Hexagons not only slot into each other but also provide more interior space than any other tessellating shape.
